Cayman CRS Principal Point of Contact (PPoC) Services

Senior-led local contact, DITC Portal coordination and communications support for Cayman Financial Institutions preparing for the 31 January 2027 PPoC deadline.

A practical Cayman contact for CRS communications

Under the amended Cayman Common Reporting Standard framework, a Cayman Financial Institution must appoint a Principal Point of Contact located in the Cayman Islands. The PPoC is authorised by the Financial Institution to act as its primary contact with the Tax Information Authority, through the Department for International Tax Cooperation, for CRS compliance purposes.

The arrangement needs more than a Cayman address. It should establish clear authority, complete contact details and a reliable process for receiving, recording and escalating official communications.

How Anchor helps

Local PPoC appointment

Anchor can act as the locally reachable PPoC for an eligible Cayman Financial Institution under a clearly documented engagement.

DITC Portal coordination

Support for the prescribed registration or change-form process used to submit and maintain PPoC details and the date the entity became a Financial Institution.

Communication monitoring

Receive, log and promptly escalate DITC communications to the directors, administrators and advisers nominated by the Financial Institution.

Governance and evidence

Maintain an organised record of the appointment, authority, Portal updates, communications and agreed escalation route.

What the service can include

  • Documented appointment and authority to act as PPoC
  • Maintained Cayman physical address and contact information
  • DITC Portal registration and change-form coordination
  • Monitored receipt of official DITC communications
  • Communications register showing receipt, ownership, deadline and resolution
  • Agreed escalation matrix and authorised client contacts
  • Annual review of authority, contact details and instructions
  • Coordination with Anchor’s registered office, governance, accounting and compliance support

Clear boundaries

The PPoC is a local communications and administrative control. Appointing a PPoC does not transfer the Financial Institution’s underlying CRS obligations.

Unless separately engaged, Anchor’s PPoC service does not include CRS classification opinions, tax or legal advice, preparation or approval of CRS returns, historical reporting remediation or substantive responses to DITC enquiries. Those matters remain with the Financial Institution and its appropriately qualified advisers.

Information needed to begin

Onboarding will normally require the entity’s legal and Cayman registration details, confirmation of CRS classification from the entity or its adviser, DITC Portal status and relevant references, the date it became a Financial Institution, current Portal contacts, authorised escalation contacts, client due-diligence information and a signed engagement defining responsibilities and response procedures.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Cayman CRS Principal Point of Contact?

A PPoC is a person located in the Cayman Islands and authorised by a Cayman Financial Institution to act as its primary contact with the Tax Information Authority, through DITC, for CRS compliance purposes.

Who can act as PPoC?

A natural person with a physical Cayman address or a legal person incorporated, registered or established in Cayman that maintains a physical Cayman address may act. A mailing or correspondence address alone is not sufficient.

Does the 31 January 2027 extension cover DITC registration?

No. The extension is limited to appointing the local PPoC and providing the date the entity became a Financial Institution. It is not a general extension of the underlying registration deadline.

Can Anchor act as our local PPoC?

Subject to an agreed engagement, conflicts review, client due diligence and confirmation that the scope is appropriate, Anchor can provide local PPoC appointment and supporting administration.

Does appointing a PPoC transfer our CRS responsibilities?

No. The Financial Institution remains responsible for its CRS obligations and should retain appropriate tax, legal and compliance advisers.

Can the service connect with our other Cayman administration?

Yes. Where Anchor provides registered office, governance, accounting or compliance support, the PPoC workflow can be coordinated with the entity’s wider Cayman administration.
